Integrated Water Resource Management

City of Ellensburg

Coho staff have served the City of Ellensburg since 2001 on many aspects of the city's water system planning:

  • Comprehensive water right services included internal audits and risk assessment, strategic planning, management of development schedules, and processing change applications through both Ecology and the Kittitas County Water Conservancy Board.
  • Management of the installation of two production wells of 1,200 and 1,600 gpm capacity to depths of 1,100 feet in the Ellensburg Sandstone.
  • Conducted an audit of the operational performance of all of the City’s wells, recommendations of which included pump rehabilitation, well redevelopment and additional well installation.
  • Supported update of the City’s Growth Management Plan that delineated geological hazardous areas, Critical Aquifer Recharge Areas (CARAs), provided a best available science analysis for all Critical Areas Ordinances, and presented at public meetings to explain the science.

Coho continues to provide services to the City of Ellensburg including overseeing the installation of a large capacity well in the Ellensburg Sandstone to an anticipated depth of 1,000 feet.
